JANET JACKSON’S JANET. LOGS SECOND WEEK AT NUMBER-ONE!

Plus: Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) debuts at No.2!

janet. scores a second consecutive week atop the L.dK Weekly Top 50, tying Rhythm Nation 1814 as Jackson’s longest-running chart-topper to date. The album sold 91,000 copies this week, marking a 23 percent increase from the previous week.

The aforementioned Rhythm Nation 1814 descends from No.4 to No.5 on sales of 32,000 copies (down 37 percent).

Taylor Swift vaults onto the Top 50 with Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), boasting first-week sales of 75,000 copies after being forecast to sell over 100,000 in its opening week. It earns Swift her ninth consecutive Top 5 hit, and sixth released this decade!

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) has already been certified Silver for selling over 60,000 copies – it is Swift’s ninth album to do so.

Despite its impressive debut, Speak marks somewhat of an under-performance for Swift, ending her now-broken streak of seven chart-topping albums since the inception of L.dK Weekly. She previously debuted atop the charts with reputation (2017), Lover (2019), folklore (2020), evermore (2020), Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (2021), Red (Taylor’s Version) (2021), and Midnights (2022).

It also represents her lowest ever first sales week, falling below Fearless which opened with 89,000 in April 2021.

Swift’s chart-topping folklore meanwhile rises 9-8 on sales of 24,000 copies (up 4 percent).

Despite the relative underperformance of the newly re-recorded Speak Now, Swift’s catalogue makes huge gains inside the Top 50: Red (Taylor’s Version) re-enters at No.14 with 19,000 sold; Fearless (Taylor’s Version) at No.15 with 18,000 sold; evermore surges 27-18 with 15,000 sold; and Lover rockets 40-22 to reach its highest rank since the Summer of 2020, moving 12,000 copies.

Lana Del Rey’s Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd slips 2-3, leaving the Top 2 for the first time after 15 weeks. The album sold a further 61,000 copies this week (down 8 percent).

Jessie Ware’s That! Feels Good! falls 3-4 with 43,000 copies sold (down 7 percent), after spending four weeks in pole position.

Outside the Top Five: Joni Mitchell’s twelve-week-leader Court and Spark rebounds 7-6 (32,000 sold – up 14 percent); Beyonce’s five-week-ruler RENAISSANCE dives 5-7 (31,000 units – even with last week); and Tina Tuner’s No.4-peaking Private Dancer steps down 8-9 (23,000 units – down 4 percent).

Adele’s 30 rounds out the Top Ten, stationary at No.10, after spending seventeen weeks at number-one (22,000 units – on par with last week).

Onto Next Week: Janet Jackson’s janet. looks set for a third week at number-one with over 70,000 sold. Misterwives could debut inside the Top Ten with their newest release – Nosebleeds.
