LANA DEL REY’S DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE’S A TUNNEL UNDER OCEAN BLVD BECOMES LONGEST-RUNNING NUMBER-ONE OF 2023!

Plus: New certifications for Arlo Parks, Jessie Ware & Beyonce, and Janet Jackson rockets into Top Five!
Lana Del Rey’s Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd reclaims the No.1 spot on the L.dK Weekly Top 50 after waiting at No.2 for six weeks, following its initial five-week reign. The album sold 74,000 this week (up 6 percent), and has now sold over 1.4 million copies to date.
Ocean Blvd has spent a total of six weeks at the chart summit so far, becoming the longest-running chart-topping album of 2023, passing Beyonce’s five-week-ruler RENAISSANCE.
Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell! meanwhile continues to hold the No.10 spot, shifting 20,000 units (on par with last week). It has now spent a record-extending 150 weeks inside the Top Ten!
Arlo Parks’s My Soft Machine sinks to No.2 after leading for its first two weeks, shifting a further 62,000 copies (down 14 percent). The album has now been certified Platinum for selling over 300,000 units, becoming the singer’s second to do so after her debut album Collapsed in Sunbeams which is currently certified Double Platinum with close to 900,000 copies sold.
Jessie Ware’s That! Feels Good! keeps at No.3 on sales of 59,000 units (down 10 percent). The four-week-leader has now become Ware’s fourth album to be certified Multi-Platinum, having sold over 600,000 units to date. It joins Glasshouse (7 x Platinum); What’s Your Pleasure? (3 x Platinum); and Tough Love (2 x Platinum). Her debut LP Devotion has been certified Gold.
Beyonce’s RENAISSANCE is steady at No.4 with 41,000 sold (down 4 percent). The album has now sold over 1.2 million copies, becoming Beyonce’s first effort to be certified at least 4 x Platinum!
A newcomer to the Top Five … Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 hurtles 29-5 with 35,000 copies sold – up 288 percent. It marks Jackson’s first trip to the Top Five. Her 1993 R&B self-titled set scorches 30-12 with 18,000 sold (up 100 percent).
Jackson appears three more times inside the Top Fifty: her 2001 album All For You re-enters at new high of No.22 (11,000 sold) after originally peaking at No.49; 1997’s The Velvet Rope opens at No.29 (9,000 sold), and her third studio album Control improves 50-49 with 6,000 sold.
Outside the Top Five: Joni Mitchell’s twelve-week-leader Court and Spark descends 5-6 (34,000 sold – even with last week); Adele’s seventeen-week-ruler 30 sticks at No.7 (25,000 units – down 14 percent); Tina Turner’s Private Dancer dips 6-8 after topping out at No.4 (25,000 units – down 24 percent), and Caroline Polachek’s No.2-peaking Desire, I Want to Turn Into You stays at No.9 (21,000 sold – even with last week).
Onto Next Week: Lana Del Rey’s Ocean Blvd could earn a seventh week at the chart summit with sales of over 60,000 copies.

Notable Moves in the Weekly Top 50
No.16 – The Wild Heart / Stevie Nicks’s sophomore studio album re-enters the Weekly Top 50, selling 15,000 copies in the wake of its 40th anniversary. Wild is has earned its spot amongst the greatest albums of all time – having peaked at No.2, charted for 101 weeks to date, and selling 1.34 million copies.
No.42 – Paranoia, Angels, True Love / Christine and the Queens make their chart debut with their latest record, selling 7,000 copies in its debut frame.
No.44 – The Sensual World / Kate Bush’s 1989 masterpiece has now spent a full two years (104 weeks) inside the Top 50! It is just the 27th album in history to achieve this.
