Notable Moves in the Weekly Top 50
No.13 – Higher than Heaven / Ellie Goulding’s fifth studio album becomes her third Top 20 hit on the L.dK Weekly Top 50. It matches the No.13 peak of 2015’s Delirium, but falls far short of 2020’s Brightest Blue which clocked in at No.1, selling over 160,000 copies in its opening stanza. By comparison, Higher opened to less than ten percent of that.
No.17 – Midnights / Taylor Swift’s first pop album in years became a massive hit upon its release in October 2022, becoming the fastest-selling album of the year, and eventually spending twelve weeks at number-one! Now at No.17 in its 25th charting week, it has become Swift’s third album to be certified 6 x Platinum for selling in excess of 1.8 million copies. Midnights joins folklore (17 x Platinum), and evermore (16 x Platinum).
No.22 – Crystal Visions – the Very Best of … / Stevie Nicks’s 2007 compilation album has proved to be her most enduring collection of hits, having charted for a whopping 162 weeks to date – it still has a long way to go to surpass Bella Donna (232 weeks) as Nicks’s longest-charting album, however. This week, Crystal has become just the ninth project ever to be certified Diamond, denoting sales of over 3 million copies! It closely follows Lana Del Rey’s Lust for Life, and currently ranks as the 9th bestselling album of all time.
