Lana Del Rey’s Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd spends second week at number-one!

Plus: Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell! makes history, and The Kooks cross 1 million sales!
Lana Del Rey’s latest release – Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd – debuted at number-one on the L.dK Weekly Top 50 last week, with enormous sales of 305,000 combined units. This week, it declines by just 37 percent, selling 192,000 copies in its second week on sale. This marks the 3rd biggest sophomore-week sales draw of all time, behind only Adele’s 30 (206,000 units, following a 650,000-strong debut), and Lady Gaga’s Chromatica (202,000 units, following a 473,000-strong debut).
When counting only the pure sales from Ocean Blvd’s debut week (201,000), it makes the relative decline of just 4 percent, even more impressive!
In just two weeks, Ocean Blvd has sold 497,000 copies. It currently ranks as the 5th bestselling album of 2023 to date, passing Adele’s 30 (471,000), and trailing First Aid Kit’s Palomino (505,000).
Lana Del Rey’s landmark record Norman Fucking Rockwell! retreats 6-9 on this week’s tally, shifting 27,000 copies (down 32 percent), logging a record-extending 141st week inside the Top Ten!
NFR! has now become the first album ever to be certified Double Diamond, for selling more than 6 million copies. It adds to the album’s already-historic pedigree: NFR! is the longest-running number-one album (25 weeks), longest-running Top Five album (72 weeks), longest-running Top Ten album (141 weeks), and is currently the sixth-longest charting album ever (188 weeks). It is also the only album to rank inside the Year-End Top Ten four times, finishing at No.3 in 2019, No.1 in 2020, and then at No.5 in 2021 and 2022.
Despite being released in 2019, NFR! currently ranks as the 4th bestselling album of the 2020’s decade (4.11 million sold), while taking the No.12 slot on the list of bestselling albums of 2023 to date (332,000).
Beyonce’s RENAISSANCE meanwhile holds at No.2 with 65,000 sold (down 11 percent), after spending a total of five weeks at number-one.
The rest of the Top Five likewise maintain their ranks from last week: Paramore‘s This is Why adds a fourth frame at its No.3 highpoint with 47,000 sold (down 12 percent); Caroline Polachek is at No.4 with the No.2-peaking Desire, I Want to Turn Into You, selling 44,000 units (down 13 percent); and Miley Cyrus‘s chart-topping Endless Summer Vacation lands at No.5 on sales of 35,000 units (down 26 percent).
Outside the Top Five: Joni Mitchell’s twelve-week-leader Court and Spark ascends 8-6 (34,000 units – down 2 percent); First Aid Kit’s No.2-peaking Palomino sticks at No.7 (32,000 units – down 8 percent); and Adele’s seventeen-week-ruler 30 ticks 9-8 (27,000 units – even with last week).
The Kooks’s The Best of … So Far caps the Top Ten – up from No.13 on sales of 22,000 copies (up 4 percent) – in a landmark week for the compilation album, as it crosses the 1 million sales mark. It is the first release from the band to do so, having sold 1.004 million copies to date.
Onto Next Week: Lana Del Rey’s Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd? is currently the front-runner for a third week, looking to sell upwards of 130,000 copies in its third term.
