Joni Mitchell logs full month at No.1 with Court and Spark!

Plus: Kate Bush & HAIM sell a million copies; Conan Gray goes Gold; Lana Del Rey & Sam Fender re-enter Top Ten!
Joni Mitchell’s tallies a fourth non-consecutive week at No.1 on the L.dK Weekly Top Fifty with her 1974 record Court and Spark. The album sold 85,000 this week (up 18 percent) and has now sold over half a million copies since its retrospective release in late May. With an impressive four weeks in pole position, Spark ties Sam Fender’s Seventeen Going Under as the second longest-running number-one album of 2022; both albums trail Adele’s 30 which has ruled the rundown for a total of twelve weeks since the beginning of the annum.
Adele’s 30 holds at No.2 selling a further 44,000 copies (down 15 percent).
Kate Bush holds steady at No.3 with her two-week-leader Hounds of Love, moving 37,000 units (down 22 percent). The alternative masterpiece has now become Bush’s third album to sell over a million copies, following The Whole Story (2.17 million) and The Red Shoes (1.19 million). Bush’s The Sensual World is also a non-mover at No.8 this week (20,000 units – down 8 percent).
HAIM’s chart-topping Women in Music Pt. III elevates 5-4 with 36,000 sold (down 5 percent). The pop-rock set has now surpassed a million in combined sales since its release in the Summer of 2020.
Capping the Top Five: Harry Styles’s Harry’s House slides 4-5 after two weeks at the top spot, selling 33,000 copies (down 18 percent).
Outside the Top Five: Conan Gray’s newly-Gold-plated Superache holds at No.6 in its third week after debuting at No.4 (31,000 units – down 14 percent); Florence + the Machine’s Dance Fever strengthens at No.7 (26,000 units – up 4 percent); Lana Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell! moves 13-9 for a record-padding 129th week inside the Top Ten (20,000 units – even with last week); and Sam Fender’s Seventeen Going Under rebounds 11-10 (20,000 units – down 4 percent).
Onto Next Week: Joni Mitchell’s Court and Spark should be on track for a fourth week at the summit, likely with sales of over 70,000 units. Lizzo’s Special could debut inside the Top Five with upwards of 30,000 sold.
