ADELE RECLAIMS NO.1 SPOT WITH 30!

PLUS: MisterWives debut in Top Five; Lana Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell! makes history!
Adele rises 2-1 with 30, the biggest hit of 2022 to date by a country mile. The record sold 52,000 this week (up 6 percent) and has now nabbed a total of fifteen weeks atop the Weekly Top Fifty; it is the fourth-longest-running number-one album of all time, behind Lana Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell! (twenty-five weeks); Joni Mitchell’s Blue (twenty-one weeks); and Taylor Swift’s folklore (seventeen weeks).
Currently, 30 is the bestselling album of 2022 (1.28 million); the 5th bestselling album of the decade (2.59 million); and the 8th bestselling album of all time. It became the fastest-selling album ever upon its release in November (650,000 units) and set the record for the fastest album to sell 1 million (three weeks) and 2 million copies (12 weeks)!
Sam Fender’s Seventeen Going Under descends to No.2 after spending a record four consecutive weeks at the top spot. The album sold 50,000 units this week (down 8 percent).
MisterWives score their first Top Five hit on L.dK Weekly as 2020’s Supberloom premieres at No.3 with first-week sales of 42,000 units.
Tracy Chapman’s self-titled debut steps down 3-4 after a week at number-one in March, moving 36,000 this week (down 10 percent); Allison Russell’s Outside Child slips 4-5 in its second week with 27,000 sold (down 13 percent).
Beyond the Top Five: Norah Jones ticks 8-6 with the No.2-peaking Come Away With Me (26,000 units – up 8 percent); Lana Del Rey is down 6-7 with three-week chart-topper Blue Banisters (25,000 units – down 4 percent); HAIM return to their highest rank on the Top Fifty as Women in Music Pt. III edges 9-8 (24,000 units – up 14 percent); Joni Mitchell moves 7-9 with Blue (24,000 units – down 4 percent); finally, Harry Styles retreats 5-10 with former-number-one Fine Line (23,000 units – down 21 percent).
More Del Rey: While her 2019 mangum-opus NFR! just misses out on a Top Ten position this week, rising from No.17 to No.12, it makes history as the first album ever to sell over 5 million copies! The Greatest Album of All Time was also the first to cross 4 million sales.
To date, NFR! has sold 5,018,000 units since its release in August 2019; it has reigned as the bestselling album of all time since September 2020.
Onto Next Week: Adele’s 30 is gunning for a sales week of 45 – 55k units, and should be headed for a sixteenth non-consecutive week at the top spot!
