TAYLOR SWIFT EARNS HER FIRST MULTI-WEEK LEADER ON L.DK WITH FOLKLORE!

Plus: Alanis Morissette & Beyonce debut in the Top Ten!
For a second consecutive week, Taylor Swift’s folklore proved the most successful album of the moment, shifting 131,000 units in its sophomore frame (down 49 percent).
No.1 for 2 Weeks: As folklore claims a second week at the top spot, it becomes Swift’s first album to achieve a multi-week reign. Her two previous leaders: reputation & Lover both spent a single week at the summit.
Swift’s Third Platinum Record: With total sales of 390,000 units, folklore is the third album from Swift to be certified Platinum (300,000)! The album follows reputation (2 x Platinum) and Lover (5 x Platinum).
Flying onto L.dK Weekly at No.2 this week is Alanis Morissette’s new studio album Such Pretty Forks in the Road, with 77,000 units, derived from 37,000 in first week sales and a further 40,000 pre-sales derived from singles.
Morissette has now nabbed two Top Five albums: Road and her 2005 best-of The Collection, with the latter peaking at No.2 for a record-breaking eight weeks. This week, The Collection slides 3-4 moving 54,000 copies (down 1 percent).
Between Morissette’s two hit albums is Carole King’s A Beautiful Collection, falling 2-3 on sales of 57,000 copies (down 17 percent); and dropping one spot to No.5 is Lady Gaga’s six-week No.1 hit Chromatica with 42,000 sold (down 12 percent).
Just beyond the Top Five, Hayley Williams’ Petals for Armor holds steady at No.6 (39,000 – down 13 percent) and Ellie Goulding’s Brightest Blue descends 5-7 (38,000 – down 19 percent).
Beyonce scores her third Top Ten hit with The Lion King: the Gift opening at No.8 (36,000). It follows Lemonade & Beyonce which both hit No.2 – the former re-enters the list at No.40 this week with 4,000 copies sold.
Capping the Top Ten: Lana Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell! logs a record-extending 48th week in the Top Ten as it dips 8-9 (27,000 – down 10 percent); Jessie Ware’s What’s Your Pleasure? dives 7-10 (24,000 – down 33 percent).
Industry: Music sales experienced a 9.8% drop this week, with consumption totalling 875,000 units. Total industry sales for 2020 have now surpassed 25 million.
Onto Next Week: There are no albums scheduled for release this week, meaning Taylor Swift’s folklore is likely to extend its reign: it’s currently aiming to sell around 100,000 copies.
Important Moves in the Top 50!
No.49 – Half Written Story / Hailee Steinfeld’s No.3 peaking EP slides 39-49 in its 13th week with 3,000 sold. The release has now been certified Gold for sales exceeding 100,000 copies.
No.50 – Manic / Halsey’s third studio record led L.dK Weekly for three weeks in January and February this year, but was quick to drop off the chart after its reign. This week the set returns at No.50, earning a 10th term on the ranking – it has sold 482,000 copies to date.
